Dr. Donald Bently founded Bently Nevada Corporation in 1961, building the worlds first commercially successful eddy-current proximity probe for non-contacting vibration and thrust position measurement - first used in turbomachinery thrust position measurement - creating the modern machinery protection industry itself. Before Bently Nevadas 3300, 3500 and Trendmaster condition monitoring and System 1 diagnostic platform became the de facto standard for petrochemical, nuclear and power turbomachinery protection - with over two million probes installed globally. In 2002 Bently Nevada became part of GEs Energy portfolio, then in 2019 it was acquired by Baker Hughes.
