Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1980 by Hans Beckhoff and based in Verl, Westfalia, Germany, invented the PC-based control and EtherCAT real-time Ethernet technology. Product lines include CX series embedded PCs (CX51xx/CX52xx/CX7000/CX8090/CX9020/C52xx industrial PCs), TwinCAT 3 automation runtime on Windows and Linux, EL/EJ/KL/KM/BK EtherCAT and Bus Terminal modular I/O, XTS linear transport systems, XPlanar magnetically levitated movers, and the TwinSAFE safety platform.
