The FR-A840 series is Mitsubishi Electric's top-tier general-purpose inverter for demanding industrial drive applications where maximum performance, reliability, and service life matter most. FR-A840-00170-2-N6 is a 5.5 kW normal-duty (3.7 kW heavy-duty constant-torque) 380-500V 3-phase inverter delivering 17A continuous. Advanced Real Sensorless Vector (RSV+) control delivers 200% starting torque at 0.3 Hz on standard IM motors and supports direct torque control of IPM/SPM permanent magnet motors without encoder, offering up to 98% drive efficiency. Built-in Ethernet and RS-485 (Modbus RTU / Mitsubishi FX/U) enable PLC/SCADA integration; optional FR-A8NCA/B/C communication cards add CC-Link IE TSN, EtherCAT, PROFINET, DeviceNet, or SSCNET III/H for CNC. Dual-channel STO (Safe Torque Off) reaches PLd / SIL2 without external contactors, while a fully conformal coated main circuit and 10-year MTBF capacitors deliver a service life of 10+ years under typical conditions.
